Escaping the Sweatsuit of Covid-19
Hey hon,
I understand you love the sweat suit, I do too; but it’s time to move on… Break up with the sweat suit, you deserve better.
I am not ashamed to disclose with you that I have purchased a whopping 6 pairs of sweatpants amid the pandemic. But, it’s time to rejoin society with a bang. We’re talking mom jeans, midi skirts, a nice slip dress, and of course shoes & accessories, the whole sha-bang. I know it sounds intimidating, but don’t fret. Throughout our time together I will share with you the best, most affordable places to invest your precious coin. From a pair of simple, yet classic earrings to a Vogue-worthy ball gown, my job is to keep you looking cute and classy. While my personal style might not be the same as yours, there are certain basics that are just universal. I am ecstatic that to be sharing my fashion journey with you all! My hope is that we can grow our closets and learn together.
Growing up in a Chicagoland suburb, one would think that we would sport all the newest runway fashion. One would be incorrect. Ladies, I am sick and tired of seeing the same black leggings paired with a cropped tank top, a halter bralette, and Air-Force 1’s. We can do better than this! While I understand not everyone has the luxury to build their closet, trust me babe, there are ways around that. After all, that’s what I’m here for. In this weeks article, I will introduce to you the ten basics I believe every badass should have in their closet.
An oversized jacket—Whether it be a jean jacket, leather jacket, or bomber, this article of clothing is essential for all seasons. In my opinion, it’s best to have a solid, staple color like black or white, so you can build your closet and collect statement pieces around a streamlined color palette; But, if you want that plum bomber jacket, you do you boo.
A black tank top—If you’re anything like me, you love wearing cropped shirts and tanks. I know, I know, I just dissed them in the paragraph above; but you have to pair them right. A black ribbed tank with a pair of mom jeans or biker shorts(If you are going for a sporty chic moment) is simply chef’s kiss.
A pair of jeans- Black, blue, white, ripped or non-ripped, skinny or mom, a nice pair of high quality jeans are always going to be in style and in your favor.
A solid color t-shirt—Now you might think, “Well, that’s boring.” That’s the point, hon. Take a simple black or gray shirt, tuck it into jeans, add a cute hair style and Bam! You look clean and classy.
White shoes—Again, I know I just said we were too good for them. But, they are a staple; white shoes go with anything and everything. From formal dresses to sweatpants and a t-shirt, they just work. Options are limitless: white platform converse, white and cream Adidas, off-white Reebok C-85’s, the list goes on. A cute pair of white sneakers go with any and every outfit.
A solid black or white dress—Personally, I prefer a mini slip or a body con style dress, but it really is up to you. Feeling comfortable in your outfit is the most important piece to a look, don’t be shy find a dress that shows off those curves and features. It is vital that you feel confident and like you can take on all the problems the world might throw at you.
A pair of black heels—To go with your dress or even jeans, you can create a classy, timeless look with just the slip of a heel.
A Canvas tote bag- Walking around New York, trust me babe, you’re gonna need it.
A Pair of Gold or Silver hoops—These are the statement of your outfit. Especially with neutral colors and simple outfits, you need a piece of precious metal to tie it all together and make your outfit complete.
A Nice Pair of Sunglasses—These should make you feel like a celebrity. Make sure to pick frames that complement your face shape! Be careful of the paparazzi babe, they will eat you up.
